Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE)

Partnership meetingImprovement and Efficiency South East (IESE) is the South East Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (RIEP), established to help the region's 74 local authorities and nine fire authorities in their drive to increase efficiency and improve services. It is a partnership dedicated to helping local authorities and their partners achieve efficiency and improvement objectives.

Improvement and Efficiency South East's overriding aim is to accelerate public sector transformation, specifically to help authorities deliver £160 million in cashable savings over three years and £250 million after five years. They aim to do this through three main approaches:

1) Understanding the challenge. IESE work with public sector bodies to produce a range of 'diagnostic tools,' to enable self assessment at a strategic or corporate level.

2) Identifying the opportunities to improve. The above assessments will ultimately identify opportunities to save money and improve performance.

3) Making the change and benefiting from the result. IESE provides support to help authorities and their partners realise efficiency savings and embed sustainable culture changes across their organisation.

The IESE Annual Report for 2009/10 provides a summary of the achievements made and targets met.
