Surrey Climate Change Partnership
The Surrey Climate Change Partnership is a collaboration involving officer representatives from all eleven district and borough councils and the county council.
The partnership was established to:
- Facilitate joint working across the county on climate change issues.
- Develop best practice, which can be shared throughout the county and the region.
- Create a Surrey wide approach that can lead to improvement and efficiency.
The Surrey Climate Change Partnership played a key role in the delivery of the first workstream of the Surrey Improvement Partnership 'Tackling Climate Change Together' project - the development of a county-wide climate change strategy. Having developed a clear brief, they commissioned consultants Jacobs to create the strategy which will:
- See the development of a core strategy of common objectives to tackle climate change across the county.
- Set out the policy context for the work of the partnership.
- Develop a set of objectives and actions to inform its work programme.
The strategy has been endorsed by the Surrey Climate Change Partnership Member Group and all the individual Surrey authorities. It can be viewed from the following link: http://www.surreyimprovement.info/climate/SCCS/sccs.
The Surrey Climate Change Partnership continues to play a key role in the development of other areas of the Surrey Improvement Partnership 'Tackling Climate Change Together' project.
