Surrey Strategic Partnership

Surrey Strategic Partnership is the county wide Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). It brings together the following organisations in the spirit of partnership and cooperation to tackle the key issues facing Surrey and to make improvements to localities and communities within:

  • Surrey County CouncilPolice and officer working
  • Surrey's eleven District and Borough Councils
  • Surrey Police
  • Surrey Primary Care Trust
  • The Learning and Skills Council
  • The voluntary, community and faith sector
  • The business sector.

The direction of the Surrey Strategic Partnership is governed by a Leadership Group, which acts as a forum for the views of public, private and voluntary sector organisations. Priorities for Surrey are jointly agreed to ensure that partners work together to achieve targets for social, economic and environmental well being for all those who live and work in the County. A current priority is for all premises in Surrey to have access to faster broadband internet by 2013.

To drive delivery of the work of the Surrey Strategic Partnership, a small group of senior officers from across the different partner groups has formed a Delivery Management Group (DMG).

DMG tackle a range of cross cutting issues and coordinate the work of five thematic partnerships, which are responsible for programming work to meet the priorities and targets set by the Leadership Group. The five thematic partnership areas are:

  • Children and young people
  • Economic development
  • Health and well-being
  • Housing, infrastructure and environment
  • Safer and stronger communities

The Surrey Strategic Partnership has also identified four key Priority Areas, based on information gathered from a range of national, regional and local sources, such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment. The four areas are Stanwell in Spelthorne, Maybury and Sheerwater in Woking, Westborough in Guildford and Merstham in Reigate and Banstead. These areas will receive a number of interventions from a range of partners, who will take a comprehensive view of public service delivery and consider how joined up working could result in better services for lower costs (an approach known as Total Place).

Work is commissioned and developed to meet key objectives, then progress is reported back to the Leadership Group via DMG.
